About UW Medicine

About UW Medicine

At UW Medicine, our mission is clear. We improve the health of the public – and we do this one patient at a time, starting with you. We put patients first because we believe our patients and their families are the most important part of our healthcare team.

How We Take Care of You

UW Medicine includes four hospitals, a network of clinics, hundreds of specialty clinics, a virtual telemedicine clinic and an air transport service that ensures that you have access to the most appropriate care when traveling in the region. We are here to meet your needs, from well-child visits to services for the elderly, and from cancer treatments to treatments for the common cold. (And everything in-between.)

UW Neighborhood Clinics

A network of friendly, neighborhood-based clinics located throughout the Puget Sound region. Our clinics provide a wide spectrum of primary care and secondary services, from pediatrics to geriatrics, using the medical home model. You’ll find them in Ballard, Belltown, Factoria, Federal Way, Issaquah, Kent/Des Moines, Northgate, Olympia, Ravenna, Shoreline, Smokey Point and Woodinville — with urgent care services at many locations.

Our Hospitals

The UW Medicine system includes four hospitals that provide superb care. Each excels in certain specialties.

UW Medical Center is consistently ranked the No. 1 hospital in the Seattle area and Washington state. Healthcare professionals based at UW Medical Center provide highly specialized services for cardiac care; cancer care and stem cell transplantation; obstetrical care (including the highest level of neonatal intensive care unit); sports, spine and orthopedics care; and solid organ transplantation

Harborview Medical Center is the only Level I adult and pediatric trauma and burn center in Washington, and is the trauma and burn referral center for Alaska, Montana and Idaho. UW Medicine healthcare professionals at Harborview provide highly-specialized services for emergency medicine, ophthalmology, orthopedics, neurosciences, vascular surgery, behavioral health, complex critical care and rehabilitation. U.S. News & World Report has ranked Harborview among the nation’s top hospitals in diabetes and endocrinology, nephrology, neurology and neurosurgery, orthopedics, pulmonology and urology.

Northwest Hospital & Medical Center is a full-service, acute care community hospital located in North Seattle that provides comprehensive medical, surgical and therapeutic services and attracts patients for primary and specialized care. As a winner of multiple industry awards, Northwest Hospital has been recognized for clinical care, emergency medicine and patient safety excellence.

Valley Medical Center is an acute care community hospital and clinic network committed to providing safe, high quality, compassionate care and is a vital resource for healthcare in southeast King County. The primary care clinics serve as a medical home for patient care management; urgent care clinics provide after-hours care and walk-in consultations and treatment; and more than two dozen specialty clinics provide highly specialized care to patients in the region.

Airlift Northwest is the pre-eminent provider of air medical transport services in the Pacific Northwest, dedicated to providing safe, efficient air transport for critically ill and injured infants, children and adults. When patients have an emergency — especially when they live in rural or remote areas — health providers call Airlift Northwest, our flying ICU, to take them to a hospital that has the necessary services to care for that patient.

Specialty Clinics

UW Medicine also operates clinics, within and outside the four hospitals that provide specialty care, such as the UW Medicine Eastside Specialty Center and the UW Medicine Sports Medicine Center at Husky Stadium.
